What is Fresh Paint Springfield?
Since 2019, Common Wealth Murals has installed 35 murals in downtown Springfield, Mason Square, the North End and the South End through the Fresh Paint Springfield program.
If privately commissioned, the typical cost of a professional mural is between $15,000 to $75,000. When a building owner or organization is paying for the mural, they choose the artist and what the mural will look like. For Fresh Paint Springfield murals, the money is raised from other sources, and muralists paint for reduced rates because they are given wide latitude in what they paint.

Hundreds of people get involved with Fresh Paint every year
Volunteers help paint the murals at community paint parties, lead mural tours, help spread the word, and lend professional skills like photography and videography, social media outreach, painting and construction.
